The Invisalign method

Invisalign allows teeth to be straightened without using braces. Removable retainers are used, which are produced specially for each individual patient. The big advantage: while being worn, the aligners are almost invisible.

During the course of treatment, various retainers are used to gently push the teeth into the desired position. In order to achieve the best results, the retainer should be worn for approximately 22 hours a day.

Process: What happens before treatment?

Before the treatment itself begins, the patient’s general dental health is checked. The misalignment of the teeth is also assessed and evaluated. If the basic requirements are fulfilled, a state-of-the-art 3D scan is used to create an image of the teeth or the dental arch.

Right after the scan, you can see on the screen to what extent the misalignment of your teeth can be corrected. In general, treatment with Invisalign is suitable for anyone suffering from misaligned teeth. Treatment can be carried out for both medical and cosmetic reasons. The only thing that counts is that you are satisfied with your smile.

In general, the range of services varies from insurance company to insurance company. It is therefore not possible to give a general answer.

The Invisalign principle is a revolutionary process for treating misalignment of teeth which offers many benefits compared to normal braces. This means that there are several questions from the patients’ side. Below, we would like to do our best to answer these questions as well as possible:

What does Invisalign do?

With the help of the Invisalign retainer, even complex misalignments of the teeth can be corrected without problems. The following misalignments (among others) can be treated:

• Crossbite (the front teeth of the upper and lower jaw come together in an unfavorable manner)

When can Invisalign not be used?

In general, the Invisalign principle can be used for all types of misalignment of the teeth (including crowding, gaps, crossbite). Nonetheless, there may be certain dental health factors which make treatment impossible (for the time being). However, this can only be determined by us on location in the practice in Berlin Mitte.

How long does treatment with Invisalign take?

Treatment duration varies depending on the complexity of the misalignment, but is usually significantly shorter than with normal braces: approximately 6-12 months.

Only after individual consultation can we tell you more precisely how long you can expect to wear the retainer. However, by wearing the aligner as often as possible, you can also affect the length of the treatment yourself.

What can you eat with Invisalign?

In general, you can eat whatever you like with Invisalign. For mealtimes, you simply remove the aligner. In contrast to normal braces, there is no annoying sensation in your mouth.

Note: Depending on the meal, you should clean your teeth before putting the aligner back in.

Can you smoke when using Invisalign?

In principle, you can smoke during treatment with Invisalign. However, the manufacturer does not recommend this, as the aligner may otherwise become discolored. However, any potential discoloration does not affect the functionality of the aligner.

How can I clean Invisalign?

The aligners from Invisalign should be thoroughly rinsed with water before use and if necessary cleaned with a soft toothbrush. In order to thoroughly clean the aligner, for example once per week, you can also use special cleaning crystals.
